THE NATIONAL HIGHER EDUCATION FUND CORPORATION (PTPTN)
Government Education Loan SchemeThe National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) provides education loans to Malaysian students pursuing higher education in both public and private institutions.
PTPTN was established under the National Higher Education Fund Act 1997 (Act 566) and officially began operations on 1 November 1997.
Functions of PTPTN
- Provide education loans for higher education.
- Collect loan repayments.
- Manage SSPN education savings schemes.
- Carry out functions under the National Higher Education Fund Act.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a Malaysian citizen.
- Be below 45 years old during application.
- Possess SPM with at least THREE (3) credits.
- Meet the programme entry qualification requirements.
- Study in an MQA-accredited programme.
- Have at least ONE (1) year of study remaining.
- Not receive sponsorship from MARA, JPA or any scholarship provider.
Other Requirements
- Previous PTPTN borrowers must settle outstanding loans before making a new application.
- Students who discontinued previous studies must terminate the previous PTPTN agreement before reapplying.
- Applicants must possess an SSPN account before applying.
SSPN Account
Beginning 1 January 2012, every PTPTN applicant must have an SSPN account with a minimum savings balance of RM20.
SSPN accounts can be opened at:
- Maybank
- CIMB Bank
- Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN)
- Agro Bank
- Bank Rakyat
- Bank Islam
Applicants are encouraged to open the account through Maybank for faster verification.
Online Application
Applications are submitted online through the official PTPTN portal during the announced application period. Applicants should prepare an active email address before applying.
PTPTN PIN Number
Applicants are required to purchase a PTPTN PIN Number from Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN). The PIN costs RM5.00 and remains valid for SIX (6) months.

EMPLOYEES PROVIDENT FUND (EPF / KWSP)
Education Withdrawal Scheme (Account II)The Employees Provident Fund (EPF), also known as Kumpulan Wang Simpanan Pekerja (KWSP), provides members with the opportunity to withdraw savings from Account II to finance higher education at recognised institutions in Malaysia or overseas.
Education Withdrawal Scheme (Account II)
This scheme allows eligible EPF members to withdraw savings from Account II to pay education fees for themselves, their children, spouses or parents, subject to EPF terms and conditions.
Eligibility
Eligible members may withdraw the lower amount between:
- The total amount of education fees required; or
- The available balance in Account II.
Members may submit applications for withdrawal every academic year provided that sufficient balance remains in Account II.
How to Apply
Before submitting an application, EPF members are required to:
- Check the available balance in Account II.
- Obtain confirmation regarding the eligible withdrawal amount.
- Complete the required EPF education withdrawal application form.
- Submit the application together with supporting documents.

- Education institution invoice or fee statement.
- Identification documents.
- Relevant EPF supporting documents.

THE SOCIAL SECURITY ORGANISATION (SOCSO / PERKESO)
Education Loan SchemeThe Social Security Organization (SOCSO) provides social security protection through social insurance including medical benefits, cash benefits, artificial aids and rehabilitation services to employees. These benefits aim to reduce suffering and provide financial protection and security for employees and their families.
One of the benefits provided by SOCSO is the Education Benefit, which is offered in the form of an education loan to eligible dependent children of SOCSO contributors receiving monthly benefits such as Dependant's Benefit, Survivor's Pension, Permanent Disablement Benefit or Invalidity Pension.
Education Loan Benefit
Although the assistance is provided as a loan, it may be converted into a scholarship if the student achieves excellent academic results.
The education loan is provided to dependent children of SOCSO members who receive:
- Dependant's Benefit.
- Survivor's Pension.
- Permanent Disablement Benefit.
- Invalidity Pension.
Eligibility
Applicants must fulfil the following requirements:
- Be a dependent child of an employee who contributes to SOCSO insurance schemes.
- Be a child of a contributor receiving Invalidity Pension, periodic or permanent disablement benefits.
- Be a child of a contributor who passed away due to employment injury or before reaching 55 years old.
- Be below 21 years old and unmarried at the time of application.
- Be pursuing a recognised Degree, Diploma or Certificate programme approved by the Ministry of Education.
- Demonstrate good academic performance and gain admission into a recognised higher learning institution.
Applicants Not Eligible
- Siblings of the insured person.
- Students undertaking Matriculation, Foundation or Scholarship programmes.
Loan Coverage
SOCSO provides education loans of up to RM100,000 to eligible children of members who receive monthly Invalidity Pension benefits.
The borrower is required to repay the loan through monthly instalments after completing the study programme.
How to Apply
Applications must be submitted by completing the "Permohonan Pinjaman Pendidikan PERKESO" form available at the nearest SOCSO office.

STATE FOUNDATION (YAYASAN NEGERI)
Scholarships & Education LoansFoundations or Yayasan in Bahasa Malaysia are non-profit organisations established to provide financial assistance, support and development opportunities to individuals, communities and charitable organisations.
Many State Foundations provide education loans, scholarships and financial assistance to eligible students pursuing higher education.
Education Assistance
Students are encouraged to apply for financial assistance through the State Foundation based on their state of birth, permanent residence or eligibility requirements.

Eligibility

- Meet academic and financial requirements set by the foundation.
