The search for SIDMA Idol 2018 is ongoing. SIDMA Idol, an annual singing talent competition was first introduced in 2010. The competition is opened to all registered SIDMA College Sabah students (including students registered under UNITAR Sabah) to showcase their talents, particularly their singing talent. The participants of the competition will be judged by a panel of qualified judges, and each participants need to sing one songs; either in English or in Bahasa Malaysia.
The competition aims to bring out the best of hidden talents of the students. It will serve as a platform for SIDMA College UNITAR Sabah students to showcase their creative and artistic talents with spectacular performances. The organising committee hoped that through SIDMA Idol, they can encourage and motivate students to continue developing and honing their talents while pursuing their studies at the college. From this competition, students can learn and experience college life with a difference. They learn things that cannot be taught in a lecture hall or by reading a book. It provides students with a platform to experience, to lead, to organise, to communicate, to be creative, to break away from the norm and to be confident young adults.
After rigorous promotion and searching for the best of the best talent that students of the college can offer done by the Student Affairs and Department (STAD) and assisted by the Student Representative Council (SRC) which began in the month of September, 2018 the response was immense. However when STAD conducted the first audition on 12 October 2018, only 45 candidates turned up. During the audition, the organiser only selected 10 contestants to showcase their talent during the semi-final round which will be held on 26 October 2018, beginning 2.00 pm, at SIDMA Atrium.
