KOTA KINABALU: The first coding school in Sabah, Elevate Academy of Technology and Innovation (Elevate Academy), recently inked Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with two learning institutions here to provide training and development solutions in emerging technologies.

The agreements were signed with Sidma College and KKIP Aerospace Training Centre (KATC) during a ceremony on Tuesday (May 9) here, witnessed by the state Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry deputy permanent secretary II Alijah Ismail.

The event, which coincided with Hari Raya celebrations, was also attended by various industry stakeholders, representatives from agencies under the Ministry and other state government agencies, said Elevate Academy in a statement on Thursday (May 11).

“Through the MOU with Sidma College, Elevate Academy will collaborate to offer joint digital and technology-related programmes.

“The partnership aims to provide students with industry-relevant skills and knowledge that will enhance their employability and career prospects.

“College chairman Prof Dr Morni Kambrie has expressed excitement about partnering with Elevate Academy to offer students practical, hands-on training in emerging technologies,” said the Academy.

The collaboration with KATC, meanwhile, will see the Academy providing technical training and development courses for aerospace professionals, where KATC chief executive officer Aminuddin Zakaria believed it will ensure KATC stayed competitive in the aerospace industry.

“Elevate Academy’s expertise in delivering practical, hands-on software engineering solutions will enable KATC to enhance the skills and knowledge of its workforce, thereby improving the quality of services provided to clients,” added the Academy.

Elevate Academy executive director Faezrah Rizalman said the Kota Kinabalu-based academy ultimately aimed to reduce brain drain and increase economic growth in the state.

“We aim to train and nurture people in technology and innovation and provide them with opportunities for high-paying careers, attracting more technology companies to be based in Sabah by providing high-impact technology courses.

“We believe this will not only attract local youth to learn and embrace emerging technologies at local educational and training institutions, but also international students to come to Sabah, creating new niches for edu-tourism,” she added.
