About 30 of academic staff trooped to Pan Borneo Hotel, Putatan on the 22 to 23 March 2018, for a scheduled staff professional development seminar, with the theme “Power-Up a Good Lecture.”

Designed specifically to boost lecturers’ presentation skills and paving the way for interactive learning, the seminar focused on incorporating different teaching methods in classroom for effective sessions, and understanding the need of students (personality)  through fun and interactive inquiries testing methods; as well as collaborating with relevance.

Acknowledging that the participants are SIDMA lecturers who are also teaching future educators, Datu Razali encouraged them to expand their network through building collaboration not only with the local communities around them, but also building connections with other institutions of higher learning.

The lecturers were also exposed to an engaging session with Datu Razali Datuk (Datu) Hj. Eranza, who is one of the trainer for the seminar and has acted as one of the panel for the Malaysia Education Blueprint. The engagement provided a platform for the lecturers collaboratively discussed and tackled different issues with relations to the 11 transformation in the Malaysia Education Blueprint.

SIDMA College Sabah is honoured to have co-sponsored Sabah’s first ever “Seminar Bahasa Budaya dan Sastera Masyarakat Kadazandusun” held at Institut Pendidikan Guru (IPG) Kent, Tuaran recently. Other co-sponsors of the Sabah auspicious seminar were Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA), Pertubuhan Dusun, Pertubuhan Dusun Islam Sabah (PDIS), Kadazan Society Sabah (KSS), Kadazan Language Foundation (KLF), Persatuan Suang Lotud, GG Global Aspirant, and Nani Academia Penampang.

The grand event which was held with the collaboration of IPG Kent and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) was officiated by the Honourable Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau on 27 Mac 2018.

SIDMA delegates headed by Ms Era De Sunrise Simon felt honoured to have represented SIDMA College in the significant event whereby she was given the privilege to present a paper based on her earlier research entitled “Morphological Influences in Vocabulary Acquisition for Non-Native Speakers of Kadazandusun” During her presentation, Ms Era focused on the morphological aspects that influences individual, particularly non-native speakers to acquire the Kadazandusun language.

SIDMA College Sabah entered a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Kolej Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Selangor (KUIS) to establish a strong academic partnership between both the institutions; thus paving the way for SIDMA College Sabah to offer Islamic diploma programs in Sabah by the end of 2018.
